I would like to know your opinions on Sara Sheffield.
Personally, I don't really know what to think. For once, Maxwell and the children only had the kindest words to say and she seemed friendly in the videos/her ghost form, but... at the same time, all we know is that Brighton was afraid of her and she spent her days in the country club, while Niles was raising the children... both things that don't make her too sympathetic to me. I wonder if it was simply a kind of inconsistency of the series, simply making of Sara whatever was needed right now, or if it was really intended for the audience to know that Sara wasn't as lovely as always pictured. At the same time, everything really said about Sara was, that she was a wonderful person. But I have my doubts, somehow, especially about her as a mother.
I would like to know, what you think!

It would be unrealistic if she was perfect but I don't think the show ever intentionaly made it look like that. I think that Brighton was afraid of her shouldn't be taken to seriously and was just suposed to mean she was the only one he listened to and we don't really know how much time she spent at the country club (I think, I don't remember the scene exactly). When movies or TV shows have a dead parent (usually it's the mother, expect in Disney movies, they tend to kill of both) they make them as perfect as possible. But the Nanny was often inconsistened for the sake of jokes and I don't think we know enough about her to know what she was like. That was probably intentional, I guess it would be a bit depressing for a sitcom to constantly bring up a dead person or to even admit that she had flaws.

i think I agree with you. But that's it - I think Sara's personality was basically whatever was needed right now for the joke to be made in that moment. I think that's a bit of a pity, then again, her character has never been really important.
Don't get me wrong, it's fine to spend time in the country club or wherever one likes to ;D It just made me wonder, because I think a Nanny was not needed, because of the dead mother. Fran was needed because of a dead mother. But a Nanny was needed, because rich parent's children got nannies and Niles was busy enough being a butler, cook, cleaner, valet, driver and whatever Max needed right now.
