How well do you think Niles and Sylvia got along ?
Do you think Niles was just being professional when being friendly or could you call them friends ?

I like to think that Niles would just get along with everyone and that he considered Fran and her family part of the Sheffield family even before Fran and Maxwell were married.

I think they actually liked each other - to some degree. Sylvia was often extremely unfriendly to Niles, calling him and idiot and whatnot. Niles, in his typical manner, ignored this kind of behaviour, but still had his ownw ay of being sassy. Then again, Niles really knew what Sylvia wanted (food-wise) and they shared the same goal - getting Fran and Maxwell to marry.
